MARYLAND GHOSTS FOR RENT
ANNAPOLIS

Historic Reynolds Tavern
7 Church Circle, Annapolis, MD 21404 410-295-9555 www.reynoldstavern.org
William Reynolds leased the land in 1747 and built the Tavern as a guest house for
travelers.  After his death in 1777, Reynolds' third wife, Mary, maintained the Tavern until
her death in 1785. It later served as a boarding house, a bank, a library, and again as an
inn. It was restored in 1992, and is now run as a tavern and inn much as it was originally.
Employees have heard Mary Reynolds sing Christmas carols, seen her "fixing" the
grandfather clock in the dining room, and experienced her ghost breaking tea pots and
knocking glasses off the shelves. There are a number of spirits in the house, with its
incredible age and history, it is no wonder that phenomena is frequent.

The inn was built in the 1850s by the Lindsey Family, owners of the local sawmill, and was
once owned by author Jack Hunter, who named the house after his WWI novel, The Blue
Max. The inn is furnished in early 1900s Victorian, and offers a comfortable and intimate
setting. The ghost is that of a doctor who once lived on the property and committed suicide
in his third floor apartment. Guests have reported a strange presence in the rooms that
used to be his, and his spirit has been sensed in the hotel.

FREDERICK

Spring Bank Farm
7945 Worman's Mill Road, Frederick, MY  21701 301-694-0440
This elegant Greco-Italian villa was built in 1880 and was considered the height of luxury
and modern conveniences at the time. After falling into disrepair, it was bought and turned
into a bed and breakfast inn. The home has been completely refurbished and furnished
with period pieces.  The ghost is said to be Tilly, daughter of the house's first owner. Tilly
was devoted to her sickly mother, but died in her early 30s in the house. Guilty over
deserting her mother, Tilly haunts the house to keep an eye on things. She has appeared
as a young woman in a formal Victorian gown. Others have reported feeling her presence.

MOUNT SAVAGE

The Castle
Route 36, Box 578, Mount Savage, MY 21545 301-264-4645 www.castlebandb.com
Built by Delano Rooseveldt around 150 years ago, The Castle is a replica of Craig Castle
in the Scottish Highlands. Now an impressive bed and breakfast, the inn is furnished with
period furnishings. The ghost is said to be that of Ramsay, a former owner in the 1920s
and a man of Scottish descent. Acquiring the house as a reminder of his beloved Scotland,
Ramsay was devastated when he lost in during the depression. He died a broken man
soon after. Ramsay, however, never left the Castle. His footsteps are heard on the upper
floors. The shadow of a man has been seen on the third floor, in the library, and in the
great hall.

NORTH BEACH

Angels in the Attic/The Westlawn Inn
9200 Chesapeake Avenue, North Beach, MY 20714 301-855-2607
Built in 1903 as an inn, the guest house gets its name from the immense collection of
guardian angels located all over the inn. The inn is restored and updated and has been
furnished with turn-of-the-century antiques. The ghost is said to be that of former
innkeeper, Elsie Chambers. Doors and drawers open and close, often loudly, scaring
guests.

500 Kent Manor Drive, Stevensville, Kent Island Estates, MY  21666  410-643-5757
www.kentmanor.com
The house dates from 1820 when it was the home of Alexander Thompson, part of a huge
waterside plantation. Restored to early Victorian elegance, the home now serves as a bed
and breakfast inn, offering guests every modern comfort along with beautiful period
furnishings. The ghost is said to be that of the original owner, who loved his home so
much he never wanted to leave. Thompson, a heavy smoker, now leaves the lingering
scent of tobacco in his former room, room 209. Guests have reported mooving objects and
lights that flicker. There have even been reports of a shadowy figure hanging around in dim
